Storm Chasers win in extra innings

Greg Holland in action last season. Holland, Blake Wood,
Jesse Chavez and Louis Coleman have not allowed a
baserunner this series.
The Storm Chasers saved the best for last in their 10-4 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes last night in New Mexico. They scored 7 runs in the top of the tenth to run away with the game.

The Chasers took advantage of a baserunning blunder by Albuquerque in the bottom of the ninth, five walks in the top of the tenth (two of which forced in a run) and a throwing error by pitcher Jon Huber in the tenth.
  • Lance Zawadzki hit his first home run of the season, and drove in four runs.
  • Danny Duffy, who was making his Triple-A debut, got the no-decision. He gave up 2 ER in 5.0 IP. He walked one and struck out four.
  • Kevin Pucetas got the win for Omaha, going four innings in relief. He struck out four.
  • Eric Hosmer singled in the tying run in the eighth inning. He is 7-for-14 to start the season and has multi-hit games in all three games this season.
  • Mike Moustakas was 0-for-5 with an RBI. He’s just 2-for-14 (.143), prompting this response late in the game from the Albuquerque broadcast on MiLB.tv, “Moustakas is like a bomb waiting to go off.” Hasn’t happened yet.
  • The Chasers drew 8 walks, driving their total for the series so far to 15.
  • Omaha committed two more errors: Zawadzki (1, fielding), Hosmer (2, fielding). They have committed 6 errors so far in the series.
  • Blake Wood, Greg Holland, Jesse Chavez and Louis Coleman have not allowed a baserunner in their four combined innings of work, striking out nine of a possible 12 batters.
The four-game series concludes this afternoon at 2:35 pm. RHP Vin Mazzaro is scheduled to take the mound for Omaha. He’ll go up against RHP Tim Redding.
